Spigen Ultra Hybrid close look! (for Galaxy S6)

Spigen’s Hybrid series are one of my favourites! The Hybrid series are sleek and relatively more protective than other slim-type cases.

Protective back film

The smooth feel of the sticker is pleasant to the touch

The case comes with a protective film for the back. This should prevent phone’s glass back getting scratched by some particles getting stuck in between the case and the phone.
It also prevents the glass creating this “sticking” effect when in contact with the plastic back cover.

The smooth feel of the protector sticker is good to the touch

Hard plastic back

The most iconic feature about Hybrid series is the hard plastic (glass-like) back.
This clean-looking, transparent material looks and feels AMAZING. It is slippery, is somewhat resistant to scratches and fingerprints.
It is reflective though, whether it is a good thing or a bad thing (looking good to me!).
The material that Spigen used feels and looks high-quality.

The cutout for the camera and flash/heart monitor sensor is large and well neat (damn dusts)
I had no issues using the heart monitor sensor with the case on
The little bumps on that corner... nice touch

Sides

Not too rubbery, but more like um… “hard-rubbery-plastic,” if this makes any sense

The holes for charging port, audio jack, speaker, and etc are cut out precisely. Slightly worried though, the holes for microphones (main and secondary) seem pretty tight although I had no issues with these.

small holes for the microphones
Keychain (or “phone”chain) hole
Clicky buttons, very nice

Fabulous buttons. They work perfectly fine, still making that “clicky” noise but I wish the button areas sticks out like the actual buttons on the phone (if you’ve seen RIngke’s Fusion cases, the cases have protruding buttons.. which I like).

buttons on Ring Fusion case stick out like so
all that labels.. degrade the overall cleanness of the case

The logo doesn't look particularly ugly or anything... it's just there

Air cushion technology

As we’ve seen, the “Air Cushion Technology” is there on this case.
What is it? It is some sort of small “air pockets” embedded on all four corners of the case. Supposedly, these cushions should help reduce damages done to your device, but I wouldn’t know how effective it is (and please don’t ask me, I won’t be doing a drop test).

I actually tried press the cushion with my finger and it feels as rigid as any part of the case.
Because of this cushion technology, it seems like they had to make these corners slightly thicker than the rest of the sides.
It is only by a slight amount though, I don’t think many people would notice it by looking at it nor by holding it.

Colour options

There are different colour options for this part of the case, one being Crystal Clear and the other is Space Crystal. The only difference is the colour of the sides.

Compared to the Crystal Clear option, Space Crystal has a slight dark+mirky tone to it. I kind of like both, but I prefer to show off that gold bezels with the Crystal Clear sides.

Handling

The grips and slight thickness-increase makes one-hand usage better!

The Ultra Hybrid brings a great handling experience.
Although the back is still pretty slippery, the sides are much more grippier than the smooth metal sides on GS6.
Due to such thin bezels on GS6, accidental touches on the screen is inevitable but the case improves this! Although the case adds a slight weight and thickness, but overall, the case improves the handling of the phone significantly.

Last thoughts

Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase.
I feel that the case is going to give me enough protection while giving the nice looks to my GS6.
It is not the slimmest case around and it adds decent amount of weight to the phone but it is still one of the slimmer cases around but still very practical.
It is a definitely a YES if you ask me if I recommend this product by Spigen, more so because it is on sale for $14.99 CAD.

A bunch of new cases purchased! (For Samsung Galaxy S6)

Received newly purchased phone cases from Amazon! (Spigen and Ringke cases)
Wanted to show them off... will have some closer look at these soon.

Here is the list :
- Spigen Ultra Hybrid (Crystal Clear)
- Spigen Ultra Hybrid (Space Crystal)
- Spigen Liquid Air (Liquid Crystal)
- Ringke Flex (Crystal View)
(fancy names...)

For now, some snapshots available (taken with Galaxy S6):

all packages were opened prior to taking these snapshots... very professional
and one case was taken out and is on my phone (third one from the left is empty)
some random shot

If you haven't noticed, these cases are more for looks than protection. I like these slim-type cases because I prefer:
1. easy handling,
2. light-weight,
3. and nice looking cases!

Like who doesn't want to show off their beautiful looking phones?

Sure, a normal phone(not you, Nokia) is not likely to survive a few metre drop to the concrete floor with these types of cases on, but the thing about me is that I baby these gadgets!
People around me are disgusted when they see me putting a piece of cloth before I place my phone on top of any hard surfaces (and yes, I'm not proud of this).

That’s enough about me.
In the upcoming posts, I will talk in details about each cases.

And don't worry, I will not be talking about all unnecessary and uninteresting information like specs and such which could easily be found on Google!

And yes, my posts will be fun to read (and informative!), so please stay tuned.
